On June 5, 2022, a handheld LiDAR device (iPhone running Scaniverse) was used to collect 3D scans of a 9.9-meter adult male Grey Whale (Eschrichtius robustus). These scans were conducted during a stranding event on Nootka Island. The handheld LiDAR allowed us to capture highly detailed and accurate morphological data of the adult male before and after the necropsy commenced.
