A dataset using medical X-rays computed tomography (CT) is presented for evaluating bed load transport based on the dune-tracking technique. In order to test the method, a calibration technique for porosity measurements is proposed and is applied to a set of current-generated sand ripple experiments conducted in a small hydraulic flume. The medical CT scanner coupled to a Particle image velocimetry (PIV) system provide bed and hydraulic characteristics, respectively, for each condition tested. The dataset also includes Acoustic Doppler velocimetry profiler (ADVP).The data outlines the advantage of combining CT-PIV non-intrusive measurements to quantify the bedload instantaneously and spatially.
