Unemployment Rates for Immigrants

Description:
Immigrants are more likely to be unemployed than Canadian-born residents, even though they are more likely to have post-secondary education. New immigrants face many job market constraints, including transferability of professional credentials, unfamiliarity with the job market, and lack of Canadian work experience. High unemployment among immigrants constitutes a significant under-utilization of labour, skills and talent that can benefit the economy. The City aims to see the unemployment rate no higher than that of the total population over time.
