Characterization of important coastal habitats on the north shore of the St.Lawrence maritime Estuary : Pointe-aux-Outardes marsh

A project to characterize important coastal habitats on the north shore of the lower St. Lawrence estuary has been funded for a period of 4 years (2018-2022). The purpose of this project is to generate ecological reference data to draw an overall portrait of the state of six coastal marshes, namely the marshes of Portneuf-sur-Mer (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/fr/dataset/5374b582-43aa-4ffa-8361-4a0d9f1f6b8e), Mille-Vaches Bay (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/f10f496a-acf4-4274-9c7b-7a005bcf54ed), Pointe-des-Fortin (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/3b8c6d97-6eb8-4e8d-9869-ccb2b9bab5f3), bays of Grandes and Petites Bergeronnes (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/ca-cioos_a5125bd3-60e3-4c89- 89b6-2d3a8728d10f) and Pointe-aux-Outardes. This dataset covers the Pointe-aux-Outardes marsh area and related wetlands. In order to improve knowledge of these ecosystems, flora and fauna (ichthyological and benthic) inventories have been carried out and the various abiotic factors characterized. Geomorphological data was also collected, but is not included in this dataset. However, they remain available, contact the ZIP Committee of the North Shore of the Estuary (RNE) directly to access them. The RNE ZIP Committee holds orthomosaics of the downstream section of the Pointe-aux-Outardes marsh and the littoral spit, transects perpendicular to the coast covering the entire littoral marsh (dGNSS Reach), two ecogeomorphological limits (lower limit of the vegetation of the marsh and the coastline) as well as oblique surveys of the western sector of the Manicouagan peninsula (sector from Pointe du Bout to the old dock of the municipality of Pointe-aux-Outardes) (MavicMini DJI). A characterization report of the floristic, ichthyological and geomorphological components of the Pointe-aux-Outardes marsh is also available. Un projet de caractérisation des habitats littoraux d’importance de la rive nord de l’estuaire maritime du Saint-Laurent a été subventionné pour une période de 4 ans (2018-2022). Ce projet a pour but de générer des données écologiques de référence pour tracer un portrait global de l’état de six marais littoraux, soit les marais de Portneuf-sur-Mer (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/fr/dataset/5374b582-43aa-4ffa-8361-4a0d9f1f6b8e), de la baie de Mille-Vaches (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/f10f496a-acf4-4274-9c7b-7a005bcf54ed), de la pointe des Fortin (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/3b8c6d97-6eb8-4e8d-9869-ccb2b9bab5f3), des baies des Grandes et des Petites Bergeronnes (https://catalogue.ogsl.ca/dataset/ca-cioos_a5125bd3-60e3-4c89-89b6-2d3a8728d10f) et de la Pointe-aux-Outardes. Ce jeu de données couvre le secteur du marais de la Pointe-aux-Outardes et des milieux humides connexes. Afin d’améliorer les connaissances de ces écosystèmes, des inventaires floristiques et fauniques (ichtyologiques et benthiques) ont été réalisés et les différents facteurs abiotiques caractérisés. Des données géomorphologiques ont aussi été collectés, mais elles ne sont pas incluses dans ce jeu de données. Elles restent toutefois disponibles, contactez directement le Comité ZIP de la Rive Nord de l’Estuaire (RNE) pour y avoir accès. Le Comité ZIP RNE détient des orthomosaïques de la section aval du marais de la Pointe-aux-Outardes et de la flèche littorale, des transects perpendiculaires à la côte couvrant tout le marais littoral (dGNSS Reach), deux limites écogéomorphologiques (limite inférieure de la végétation du marais et le trait de côte) ainsi que des levés obliques du secteur ouest de la péninsule de Manicouagan (secteur de la Pointe du Bout au vieux quai de la municipalité de la Pointe-aux-Outardes) (MavicMini DJI). Un rapport de caractérisation des volets floristique, ichtyologique et géomorphologique du marais de la Pointe-aux-Outardes est aussi accessible.
