Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada 2012-10-15 Imports of chicken and chicken products into Canada are subject to import controls under Canada’s Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA). Accordingly, an import permit is required for shipments of chicken and chicken products to enter Canada. Import permits for shipments of chicken and chicken products destined to the Canadian market are issued to allocation holders under Canada’s tariff rate quota (TRQ) for chicken and chicken products, which is administered by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT). The access quantity for the chicken and chicken products TRQ is 39,900,000 kilograms or 7.5% of the previous year’s domestic production as reported by Statistics Canada, whichever is greater. The allocation period for the chicken and chicken products TRQ extends from January 1 to December 31, inclusive. This Notice to Importers sets out the policies and practices pertaining to the administration of the TRQ, including the allocation, underutilization, return and transfer policies. This Notice also explains how to apply for import permits. https://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada

Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada 2024-01-22 In October 2019, following Türkiye’s military incursion into northeastern Syria, the issuance of all new export permits to Türkiye was temporarily suspended. This decision was based on Canada’s concern that Türkiye’s military incursion could further destabilize the region, worsen the humanitarian situation, and roll back progress in the fight against Daesh. The suspension did not affect valid export permits, and Canadian companies holding valid permits were able to continue exporting to Türkiye. https://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada

Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada 2018-09-01 Global Affairs Canada uses the audit process as an important way to ensure the efficient use of public funds. The Office of the Chief Audit Executive leads this work by reviewing and assessing management practices and controls. Once the audit engagement is complete, the audit team recommends areas of improvement throughout the department. Global Affairs Canada regularly performs internal audits of its foreign affairs, international development and trade programs. The department then follows a diligent process to respond to all audit findings. This includes following up on detailed management action plans to specifically address any gaps or issues identified by the audits. These action plans ensure that recommendations are implemented and that risks are mitigated. Ultimately, they provide guidance on appropriate oversight and effective use of public funds so that Global Affairs Canada’s programs and activities in Canada and in missions around the world are delivered diligently. In addition, the Office of the Chief Audit Executive provides regular guidance and follow-up to the department throughout the year to ensure progress is being made on the action plans. https://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada
