City of Fredericton - Ville de Fredericton 2021-07-22 <p style='margin:0in;'><span><span>The City of Fredericton installed </span>LPR (License Plate Reader) cameras, which work on motion, to count vehicles, and capture photos of vehicle plate numbers and models, which is transmitted into data (and database) using</span><span><span> edge computing. </span></span><span><span> This dataset lists the permit holder information including:  permit holder ID, Permit ID, Lot Zone, Hashed License Plate Number, Issued date, Expiry date.</span></span></p><p style='margin:0in;'><span><span><br /></span></span></p><p style='margin:0in;'><span><span></span></span></p><p style='margin:0in;'><span><span>Some possible use cases for the data being considered are:</span></span></p> <p style='margin:0in;'><span>1. Real-time garage occupancy (# of vehicles) / parking availability.</span><span><span> </span></span></p> <p style='margin:0in;'><span><span>2. Permit usage- Increase permit sales, flip over to pay-by-plate plus enable the city to estimate permit sales and oversell to increase revenues.</span></span></p> <p style='margin:0in;'><span><span>3. Enforcement- when the new pay machines go in that are pay-by-plate, we can find when vehicles enter and don't pay and optimize enforcement to be reactive versus ad-hoc </span></span></p>
