Coastal Action 2019-08-13 The Sherbrooke Lake Water Quality Program was implemented in fall 2017, with 2018 observing the first full sampling year. The program was designed by the Sherbrooke Lake Stewardship committee to obtain a baseline and monitor changes in water quality of the lake before, during, and after the development of a public access site. The program is managed by Coastal Action, with a group of trained volunteers collecting monthly and rainfall-dependent samples. Coastal Action also sits on the committee, in addition to a technical water quality expert, and citizen and municipality representatives from both the Municipality of Chester and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg. https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/pddl/1-0/

Coastal Action 2019-08-13 The Fox Point Lake Water Quality Monitoring Committee was appointed by the Municipality of the District of Chester in 2014, in response to ongoing concerns about the water quality of Fox Point Lake and the Aspotogan Ridge development project in Mill Cove, NS. Aspotogan Ridge will be a 550-acre family lifestyle community, with the construction of over 500 residential units and an 18-hole golf course planned over the next several years. Residents of Fox Point Lake have documented several siltation run-off events in the lake during construction of the golf course, leading to concerns over the impacts of the development project on the health of Fox Point Lake and its drainage basin. The Water Quality Monitoring Committee was tasked with developing a Water Quality Monitoring Program to document the baseline water quality conditions of Fox Point Lake and track any changes in the health of the lake over the course of the development project. In 2015, Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation was contracted to develop this monitoring program, provide training and assistance to a group of volunteers, and to analyze and report on the water quality results of the initial monitoring period and subsequent years. Monitoring of the lake and its inlet and outlet streams has taken place from May to October of each year since 2015. This program is funded by the Municipality of the District of Chester and the Aspotogan Heritage Trust and supported by a dedicated group of volunteers. https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/by/1-0/

Coastal Action 2020-03-16 Coastal Action initiated the LaHave River Watershed Project (LRWP) in 2007, in response to increasing public concern over the health of the river, with a goal of identifying and reducing environmental degradation in the watershed. Over the years, this project has involved water quality monitoring, habitat assessment and restoration, invasive species research, and community outreach. The LRWP is guided by an advisory committee comprised of government, academic, industry, non-profit, and citizen representatives and is funded by multiple partners.
