Columbia Basin Water Hub 2024 This dataset contains hydrometric data for Cory Creek. This site is part of the Columbia Basin Water Monitoring Framework program (CBWMF). The CBWMF is a coordinated monitoring network that tracks how climate change and other impacts are affecting water supply for communities and ecosystems across the Canadian Columbia Basin region. This site was selected to represent the Local Reference Group's identified priorities to monitor sources of drinking water as well as fish habitat. There are many water licenses issued for domestic, agricultural, and industrial use on this creek, and is identified as both fish and species at risk habitat.

This watershed strongly aligned with the Upper Kootenay Local Reference Group's identified priorities of monitoring drinking water sources and watershed used for or impacted by agriculture. Monitoring in this watershed also increases the coverage of the "Mid to high elevation watersheds that are relatively dry and warm" (Group UKK 10A) which the 2023 CBWMD Data Gap Analysis of the Upper Kootenay Hydrologic Region identified as underrepresented in the pre-existing monitoring network. Monitoring has been initiated, data will be uploaded in 2024.

Hanna Creek was chosen for monitoring to reflect the Local Reference Group priority to monitor sources of drinking water. This is one of the supply streams for the City of Rossland. Monitoring at this site also increases the coverage of the "Mid elevation, warm-cool, dry, and predominately forested watersheds" (Group LCK 2B) which the 2023 CBWMD Data Gap Analysis of the Lower Columbia-Kootenay Hydrologic Region identified as underrepresented in the pre-existing monitoring network.
