Beyond 20/20 is a proprietary data analysis package from Ivation Software. Since 1996, Statistics Canada has released much of its data in Beyond 20/20's proprietary format (files with the extensions .ivt, .ivd, and .ivx). Some, like the 1996 Census of Canada, has only been released for Beyond 20/20. UBC Data Services is working to convert all files to ASCII format so that they can be read by other software packages. If you require any file converted to an alternative format, please contact Data Services. Through the Data Liberation Initiative, UBC has a site licence for Beyond 20/20. Any current UBC student, staff member or faculty member may download and run one copy of the program, for the academic analysis of Statistics Canada data only. To run Beyond 20/20 4.x, you need an IBM PC running Windows 3.1, 95, 98, or NT. To run Beyond 20/20 5.x, a IBM PC with Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000 is required. Download the appropriate version for your machine and data needs, and make a note of the directory where you save it (usually \temp). Then double-click on the file in your File Manager (for Windows 3.1) or Windows Explorer (for other Windows systems). May 8, 2001: Beyond 20/20 comes in three versions, suitable for different types of data. Version 4.1 is a microdata browser, while Version 4.2 analyzes macrodata. Neither of these two versions can read files created by the other. Version 4.2 is was released in 1996. Version 5.2 is the version of Beyond 20/20 installed on UBC Library workstations. It will read both micro- and macrodata. Version 6.0 was released for the 2001 census. Version 6.2 was released in July 2003, and is required for the newest releases from Statistics Canada.
