Georgian College collaborated with Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) to develop the ASKmeGOC web application, a first-of-its-kind tool in Canada that supports structured, patient-centred conversations about goals of care. The project aimed to translate evidence-based clinical guidance into a user-friendly digital platform accessible on phones, tablets, and computers. The tool helps healthcare professionals provide prognosis information, elicit patient values, and document informed decisions about treatment options including life-sustaining interventions. Georgian’s technical team supported the development of the application’s interface and underlying decision logic, ensuring the tool aligns with RVH’s research findings and clinical protocols. This work supports broader provincial adoption of the ASKmeGOC model, enabling consistent, compassionate care planning conversations across Ontario.
