Statistics Canada 2001-01-01 Description The 2001 Extraction system of agricultural statistics (ESAS) on CD-ROM, released today, contains an extensive collection of the most requested physical and financial data on farming. The product is a co-operative effort involving Statistics Canada and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. This menu-driven software allows users to extract data by Census Agricultural Region, farm type and revenue class. The 2001 version of ESAS contains a full year of new data and a revised user's guide and reference manual. The flexibility of ESAS enables users to reorganize reports, perform calculations and create graphs. Selected tables can be viewed, printed or exported for use in other applications. Whether the subject is dairy production in Quebec or off-farm income in Saskatchewan, ESAS enables users to access all the current and historical agricultural data they need in minutes.

Statistics Canada 2010-05-05 This issue describes in detail the health region limits as of December 2007 and their correspondence with the 2006 and 2001 Census geography. Health regions are defined by the provinces and represent administrative areas or regions of interest to health authorities. This product contains correspondence files (linking health regions to census geographic codes) and digital boundary files. User documentation provides an overview of health regions, sources, methods, limitations and product description (file format and layout). In addition to the geographic files, this product also includes 2006 Census data (basic profile) for health regions. The health region boundaries provided in this product are based on 2006 and 2001 Census geographic units. The smallest geographic unit available has been used as the building block to define health regions. In all provinces except Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the dissemination area was used to define health regions. In the western provinces, the DA is not ideal and would create additional distortion. Therefore, the dissemination block has been used to improve the accuracy of these boundaries. Even with this improved resolution, the boundary files do not always reflect the true, legal limits recognized by the provinces. For the most part, they are based on a best-fit linkage to census geography. To maximize comparability, the provincial ministries of health shared their census linkage files where applicable.

Statistics Canada 2009-11-18 The data file in this package is a compilation of the IALS datasets received from the various participating countries (from the years 1994, 1996 and 1998). No changes to these datasets have been made from what was received from each country. The documentation for individual countries that is provided in this manual is the information that was provided by each IALS country. Further information on the individual data files or supporting documentation should thus be addressed to the appropriate study manager. It should be noted that Australian IALS data is only available through the Australian Bureau of Statistics, for confidentiality reasons. The IALS venture was initiated with two fundamental goals: The first objective was to develop an assessment instrument that would permit useful comparisons of literacy performance across languages and cultures. If such an assessment could be created, the second goal was to perform such comparisons, describing the literacy skills of people from different countries; each country's skill profile would be obtained by conducting a sample survey of households representative of the entire adult population. Note Participants of the first two rounds of IALS are referenced in this guide (Guide-E.pdf) as part of the first cycle (1994, 1996), whereas participants of the third round are referenced as the second cycle (1998).

Statistics Canada 2011-04-18 The Industry Accounts Division of Statistics Canada publishes annual supply and use input-output (I-O) tables. While these rectangular, industry by commodity closely reflect actual economic transactions, certain analytical and modeling purposes, however, require symmetric industry-by-industry I-O tables. The symmetric industry by industry table shows the inter-industry transactions, that is, all purchases of an industry from all other industries including expenditures on imports and inventory withdrawals as well as all expenditures on primary inputs. Similarly, the symmetric final demand table shows all purchases by a final demand category from all other industries, including expenditures on imports and inventory withdrawals as well as all expenditures on indirect taxes. These tables are available at the S level. Explanation on the methodology used is provided to the user by contacting the Industry Accounts Division of Statistics Canada.

Statistics Canada 2014-11-01 This product presents estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by industry, in current dollars, evaluated at basic price for all provinces and territories. These estimates are derived from the provincial Input-Output tables. GDP measures the unduplicated value of production. The GDP by industry estimates are derived using a "value added" approach, that is, the value that a producer adds to their intermediate inputs before generating their own output. This allows not only for the computation of total economic production but also the industrial composition and origin of the economic production. When evaluated at basic prices, an industry's GDP is the sum of its factor incomes (wages and salaries, supplementary labour income, mixed income and other operating surplus) plus taxes less subsidies on production (labour and capital).
