Giles, Braeden; Kukolja, Nikola; Mann, Koren K.; Robaire, Bernard 2024-07-03 This dataset contains the compiled raw data and image analysis coding for the main and supplemental figures seen in “Phenotypic and Functional Outcomes in Macrophages Exposed to an Environmentally Relevant Mixture of Organophosphate Esters in vitro”. Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are flame retardants and plasticizers used in consumer products. OPEs are found ubiquitously throughout the environment with high concentrations in indoor house dust. Exposure to individual OPEs is associated with immune dysfunction, particularly in macrophages. However, OPEs exist as complex mixtures and the effects of environmentally relevant mixtures on the immune system have not been investigated. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the toxicity of an environmentally relevant mixture of OPEs that models Canadian house dust on macrophages using phenotypic and functional assessments in vitro.

Forte, Roberto 2024-06-06 The dataset includes supplementary material with its respective data and the stock-flow model executable for publication. The replication package includes a user-friendly interface and an executable file for the stock-flow model based on data and a conceptual model developed through participatory processes in rural areas of Panama. This model examines small-scale agricultural systems that are highly diverse in nature in a tropical region such as Panama. Through its user-friendly interface, the executable file of the model analyzes several scenarios depending on the parameters established by the user and to illustrate trends based on productivity indicators (t/ha) and soil quality indicators (Available Soil Organic Carbon - t/ha). Through the integration of system dynamics models with stock-flow models, we developed an intuitive way of visualizing the components, interactions, and feedback in small-scale agricultural systems. Moreover, we proposed integrating this type of stock-flow model with a process-based model to provide end users (farmers, stakeholders, and extensionists) with an innovative method of analyzing different scenarios and impacts of influencing variables in a small-scale production system without incurring increased costs. This type of tool would facilitate the decision-making process for small farmers in rural tropical areas, allowing them to transition from conventional farming practices to more environmentally friendly practices more quickly.

Hibbs, Mattie 2024-07-08 This dataset contains .csv files of freezing temperatures (T) and cumulative nucleus concentrations (CNC), as well as SAXS intensity counts for each sample discussed in the corresponding manuscript. Freezing temperature data was obtained from drop freezing assays as described in the manuscript (Methods: Ice Nucleation - Immersion mode drop freezing experiments). Cumulative Nucleus Concentration values were obtained from the equations detailed in the manuscript under Ice Nucleation - Analysis. SAXS data is raw data of intensity counts vs. scattering vectors (q), obtained from the SAXS instrument as described in Methods: Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) Analysis. All figures were produced from this data using Matlab and RStudio.

Polk, Raven; Baker, Don 2024-08-19 Electron microprobe analyses of diffusion profiles in basaltic melt during anhydrite dissolution. The experiments and analyses were performed by Raven Polk and form the basis for her M.Sc. thesis at McGill. Abstract from the thesis: "We measured the diffusion of sulfur released from anhydrite during dissolution into a basaltic melt to quantify the rates of sulfur contamination. The diffusion experiments were used to measure anhydrite saturation to provide insight into the interaction between mafic melts and evaporitic units during the emplacement of the Siberian Traps. Diffusion experiments were performed using a dike composition from the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province and a mixture of compressed anhydrite powder. Experimental conditions range from 1250-1450 °C at 1 GPa and durations ranging from 600 to 3600 seconds. Diffusion values vary from 5.1 x 10-12 m2/s to 3.0 x 10-11 m2/s and results were used to create an Arrhenius equation below for the diffusion of sulfur within a tholeiitic basalt:D=6.21 x 10^(-6) exp⁡((-173.6±84.0)/RT). The sulfur peak position from wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy (WDS) indicates that the dominant sulfur species in the melt is sulfate; the fraction of sulfur as sulfate in the melt S6+/Stotal, is ~ 0.60. Anhydrite solubility, the sulfur concentration at anhydrite saturation (SCAS), was determined from the measured sulfur concentrations in the melt and extrapolated along the diffusion profile to the anhydrite/melt interface. The SCAS ranges from 0.69 wt.% at 1450 °C to 1.28 wt.% at 1250 °C. There is no strong dependence of the SCAS on temperature.These diffusivity measurements are applied to a model that attempts to predict the rates of volatile uptake within a basaltic magmatic system; this model provides insight into sulfur storage and transport. The modeling results provide estimations of the amount of sulfur that can be transported in the melt and possibly released into the atmosphere and can help to determine the extent of interaction between the evaporites and magma."

Shen, Yannan; Steele, Russell; AbdelMalik, Philip; Buckeridge, David 2024-10-02 This dataset contains the estimated timing of the emergence and spread of the Omicron variant among 121 countries from September 1, 2021, to January 1, 2021, based on the frequency of Omicron genome samples collected. The Omicron variant genome sequences were collected worldwide and submitted to the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID, https://gisaid.org/) by data contributors of GISAID. The metadata of these genome samples was obtained from gisaid.org and used to calculate the frequency of Omicron samples collected in the selected countries. A Bayesian online change point detection algorithm (BOCP) was then used to identify significant increases in this frequency in each country. The detected change points were validated by comparing them with temporal trends in COVID-19 incidence and the earliest introduction of Omicron to each country as estimated by phylogenetic analysis. This dataset can be used to evaluate the accuracy and timeliness of algorithms for early outbreak detection, supporting research and pandemic preparedness.

Raw measurement data was most often converted into Microsoft Excel form for plotting of the data. The naming of the samples was done the same way as the paper and the file names are just: sample name-test name (ex: T2A-DSC). There are 6 folders: 1. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC): 7 Excel files that summarize the thermal transitions of the materials studied. 2. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA): 6 Excel files that summarize the measurements for thermal stability 3. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC): 5 Excel files that take the data and convert into the molecular weight distributions of each of the 5 sample polymers studied in the manuscript. 4. Rheology: 3 Excel files that describe the rheological tests conducted on the material (frequency sweeps, dynamic mechanical analysis and tack tests) 5. Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR): 5 Excel files + folder with kinetic samples (5 zip files MestReNova) that are used to determine composition and kinetic data (i.e. conversion) from NMR data. 6. Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy (FTIR): 22 CSV files that contain each of the FTIR spectra for the various samples.
