2015-07-01 This data provides the integrated cadastral framework for the specified Canada Land. The cadastral framework consists of active and superseded cadastral parcel, roads, easements, administrative areas, active lines, points and annotations. The cadastral lines form the boundaries of the parcels. COGO attributes are associated to the lines and depict the adjusted framework of the cadastral fabric. The cadastral annotations consist of lot numbers, block numbers, township numbers, etc. The cadastral framework is compiled from Canada Lands Survey Records (CLSR), Registration Plans (RS) and Location Sketches (LS) archived in the Canada Lands Survey Records.

2014-10-31 Sediment from Lakes Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), 47 elements including numerous metals, and visible reflectance spectroscopy or VRS-chla have been determined in sediment core samples collected in 2012, 2013 and 2014 from 16 small (surface area 4-97 ha; maximum depth ~1-5 m deep), hydrologically simple lakes located 30 to 120 km from major oil sands development areas. Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) guidelines are available for 13 of the 53 PAHs reported here. Sediment concentrations did not exceed Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) probable effects levels (PELs), which define the level above which biological adverse effects are expected to occur, for PAHs in any lake. Exceedances of the CCME interim sediment quality guidelines (ISQG) for the protection of aquatic life occurred for 4 PAHs (naphthalene, 2-methyl naphthalene phenanthrene, and benzo(a)pyrene) in 8 lakes. CCME sediment quality guidelines are available for 7 of the 47 elements reported here. Exceedances of the CCME ISQG for metals were found for arsenic in 3 lakes, cadmium in 8 lakes, mercury in 3 lakes and zinc in 9 lakes. Exceedances of the CCME PELs for metals occurred in 2 lakes for arsenic and 1 lake for zinc. Further assessment of the data is ongoing to examine reasons for exceedances as well as spatial and temporal trends of the PACs and elements. Analyses of lake primary productivity, using visible reflectance spectroscopy or VRS-chla as a proxy, show consistently greater productivity (i.e. VRS-chla concentrations) in the top sediment core slices relative to the bottom, regardless of lake morphological and limnological characteristics and landscape position. Potential drivers of these changes are being examined.

2019-06-28 <p>RG Check is a responsible gambling accreditation program developed by the <a href="https://www.responsiblegambling.org/">Responsible Gambling Council</a>, Ontario, Canada. It assesses individual gambling venues on hundreds of criteria based on existing responsible gambling standards and codes of practice. Here, "responsible gambling" refers to efforts made by the gambling venue operator to prevent or reduce gambling-related harm.</p> <p>The assessment evaluates 361 venue features linked to responsible gambling. These variables are divided into eight categories: <ol> <li>Responsible Gambling Policies</li> <li>Employee Training</li> <li>Self-Exclusion</li> <li>Assisting Patrons</li> <li>Informed Decision Making</li> <li>Advertising and Promotion</li> <li>Access to Money</li> <li>Venue/Game Features</li> </ol> Numeric scores are calculated for each of the eight categories, then converted to a final weighted score. Data are collected through site visits, and from voluntary, anonymous surveys of employees and patrons. There is no identifying information for any survey participant. </p> <p>This dataset represents all RG Check evaluations from the time of the program launch in 2012 through to 2019. RG Check Accreditation is valid for three years, after which a venue can apply to be reassessed. The dataset contains data from 152 assessments of 75 different venues. Data included in the masterfile are anonymized. Each venue is assigned a number only, and no key is available to match the number to the casino name. Venue characteristic information that is collected includes: Ontario vs. non-Ontario venue; rural vs. small, medium, and large urban location; and venue size (based on number of slot machines).</p>

2015 Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is the second most common viral infection which poses threat of infection among health care workers and those individuals treated for various debilitated conditions in hospital settings. Patients undergoing haemodialysis are at a greater risk of acquiring HBV infection. Although HBV vaccination has been in use for almost three decades, it is not completely certain about its efficacy in long-term protection. Few studies in the past have emphasized the need for evaluation of anti-HBsAg antibody titers among high risk groups that include patients undergoing haemodialysis. Studies in the past have also noted that few vaccinated group do not respond to HBV vaccine and that few other group of vaccinated individuals develop inadequate antibody titers. The present study evaluated the antibody titers among haemodialysis patients and health care workers.

2013-02-04 During speciation-with-gene-flow, effective migration varies across the genome as a function of several factors, including proximity of selected loci, recombination rate, strength of selection, and number of selected loci. Genome scans may provide better empirical understanding of the genome-wide patterns of genetic differentiation, especially if the variance due to the previously mentioned factors is partitioned. In North American lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis), glacial lineages that diverged in allopatry about 60,000 years ago and came into contact 12,000 years ago have independently evolved in several lakes into two sympatric species pairs (a normal benthic and a dwarf limnetic). Variable degrees of reproductive isolation between species pairs across lakes offer a continuum of genetic and phenotypic divergence associated with adaptation to distinct ecological niches. To disentangle the complex array of genetically based barriers that locally reduce the effective migration rate between whitefish species pairs, we compared genome-wide patterns of divergence across five lakes distributed along this divergence continuum. Using restriction site associated DNA (RAD) sequencing, we combined genetic mapping and population genetics approaches to identify genomic regions resistant to introgression and derive empirical measures of the barrier strength as a function of recombination distance. We found that the size of the genomic islands of differentiation was influenced by the joint effects of linkage disequilibrium maintained by selection on many loci, the strength of ecological niche divergence, as well as demographic characteristics unique to each lake. Partial parallelism in divergent genomic regions likely reflected the combined effects of polygenic adaptation from standing variation and independent changes in the genetic architecture of postzygotic isolation. This study illustrates how integrating genetic mapping and population genomics of multiple sympatric species pairs provide a window on the speciation-with-gene-flow mechanism. https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/
