Here, we present a method based on abrasive-free chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) to planarize nanostructured gold surfaces with high selectivity against SiO2. The method is efficient in a damascene process and industry-compatible. Investigations into the material removal mechanism explore the effects of CMP parameters and show that the material removal rate is highly tunable with changes in slurry composition. Millimeter-scale arrays of gold nanostructures embedded in SiO2 were fabricated and the planarization dynamics were monitored over time, leading to the identification of distinct planarization phases and their correlation with the material removal mechanism. Finally, plasmonic cavities of gold nanostructure arrays over a gold mirror were fabricated. The cavities exhibited efficient plasmonic resonance in the visible range, aligning well with simulation results.

The dataset presents a proteomic analysis performed using electrospray mass spectrometry (ES MS/MS) on the extracted total intracellular protein of S. scabies. The analysis was carried out under three conditions: in the presence of tubers of Russet Burbank and Yukon Gold potato cultivars and in the absence of plant material.

Probiotic Lactobacillus strains decrease the susceptibility of Salmonella Typhimurium to the last resort antibiotic Azithromycin.

Blais, Lya — 2023-08-16 Bacteria are involved in many interactions during events of co-infection and among microbial populations such as the gut microbiota. Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is an important foodborne pathogen and a great model to study interactions that may occur in a microbial community. When antibiotic treatments are required, Salmonella is typically treated with first line antibiotics like fluoroquinolones or azithromycin (AZM). In the present study, we found that when S. Typhimurium is co-cultured with the probiotic strains of Lactobacillus spp., a change in the pathogen’s susceptibility to AZM occurs.
