Design, Manufacturing and Integration of a Fully Automated Smart Solution for Coffee Packaging Industry (K-cups)

Research and Innovation — 2025-07-04 Beaver Rock Roastery partnered with Georgian College to improve the safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of their K-Cup production. In the first phase, two existing filling machines were refurbished, doubling output, reducing waste from 10% to 1%, and enabling the use of biodegradable materials. This work, funded by NSERC Build IE, led to ESA-certified equipment upgrades. Building on that success, Beaver Rock and Georgian secured additional funding from the Ontario Centre of Innovation to design and commercialize new equipment for internal use and broader market application. To date, the project has engaged over a dozen students and faculty from mechanical and electrical programs, providing hands-on applied research experience.

ASKmeGOC Goals of Care Web Application Development

Research and Innovation — 2025-07-04 Georgian College collaborated with Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) to develop the ASKmeGOC web application, a first-of-its-kind tool in Canada that supports structured, patient-centred conversations about goals of care. The project aimed to translate evidence-based clinical guidance into a user-friendly digital platform accessible on phones, tablets, and computers. The tool helps healthcare professionals provide prognosis information, elicit patient values, and document informed decisions about treatment options including life-sustaining interventions. Georgian’s technical team supported the development of the application’s interface and underlying decision logic, ensuring the tool aligns with RVH’s research findings and clinical protocols. This work supports broader provincial adoption of the ASKmeGOC model, enabling consistent, compassionate care planning conversations across Ontario.

Remarque : Les groupes servent à donner un aperçu visuel de l’emplacement des données. Puisqu’un maximum de 50 emplacements peut s’afficher sur la carte, il est possible que vous n’obteniez pas un portrait exact du nombre total de résultats de recherche.
