Fortune Bay's internal Kelvin waves data

Donnet, Sebastien; Lazure, Pascal — 2023-04-10 This dataset was compiled while studying the generation and propagation of internal Kelvin waves in Fortune Bay, a broad fjord of the south coast of Newfoundland. This dataset aimed to support the publication of a PhD thesis and paper to be submitted in the near future. Data consist of: model run input (T-S monthly profiles and wind speed and direction timeseries) and output (raw data and output log), model output illustrations (surface maps of thermocline depth and surface layer currents) as well as spatial fields of wind (ECMWF ERA5 and ECCC HRDPS) and SST (PFv5.3, G1SST and MURSST). More details will be provided in the thesis and corresponding paper from which a DOI will be provided here once submitted.

Coyne, Jonathan; Cyr, Frédéric; Donnet, Sebastien; Galbraith, Peter; Geoffroy, Maxime; Hebert, David; Layton, Chantelle; Ratsimandresy, Andry; Snook, Stephen; Soontiens, Nancy; Walkusz, Wojciech — 2023-09-15 The Canadian Atlantic Shelf Temperature-Salinity (CASTS) data product includes most of the historical temperature and salinity profiles collected in Atlantic Canada and the Eastern Arctic since 1912. CASTS consists of approximately 782,000 individual profiles, bin-averaged to varying resolutions up to a maximum of 5000m (1m resolution up to 1000m depth, 10m resolution up to 2000m depth, and 100m up to 5000m depth). Profile locations were restricted between 35-80 degrees North and 100-42 degrees West. Profiles were gathered from January 1912 to December 2022 and are organized into yearly NetCDF files. Profiles are uniformly formatted and quality controlled allowing users to immediately use the data product. Data fused to make this product were gathered from multiple sources, including regional archives at the Maurice-Lamontagne Institute (DFO-QC), the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (DFO-MAR) and the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre (DFO-NL). Other sources of data include DFO-NL Aquaculture, the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland, data from from international ships of opportunity archived by MEDS, the Polar Data Catalogue, etc. A complete list of sources is included in the README file.

Instructions pour la recherche cartographique

3.Pour voir les détails d’un emplacement, vous pouvez cliquer soit sur un élément dans les résultats de recherche, soit sur l’épingle d’un emplacement sur la carte et sur le lien associé au titre.
Remarque : Les groupes servent à donner un aperçu visuel de l’emplacement des données. Puisqu’un maximum de 50 emplacements peut s’afficher sur la carte, il est possible que vous n’obteniez pas un portrait exact du nombre total de résultats de recherche.
