Open Data Services 2020-02-20 This dataset comprises midblock traffic counts collected by the City of Winnipeg as part of the Traffic Monitoring Program. Midblock traffic counts are conducted using portable sensors called pneumatic road tubes. Pneumatic road tubes are installed on roadways perpendicular to the directions of travel and are connected to data loggers at the side of the road. The data logger records vehicles as they drive over the tubes by sensing changes in air pressure within the tubes. Each vehicle axle that drives over the tube creates a pulse that is recorded by the data logger. The number of pulses is divided by two to obtain an estimate of the number of vehicles. This estimate is known as a passenger car equivalents count. Midblock counts can be conducted as part of the annual count program or upon special request. They are typically two to seven days in duration. http://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada
