2018-03-15 In collaboration with ArcticNet and funded by Environment and Cliamte Change Canada and the Northern Contaminants Program, we collected air, water, zooplankton and sediment samples for persistent organic contaminants in the Canadian Archipelago in the summer of 2018. The contaminants we are focusing on are pesticides, flame retardants, fluorine containing compounds and fossil fuel related compounds. The major concern with persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is that they are taken up by arctic biota including fish, seals and whales so when traditional foods are eaten, northerners are exposed. Our group has been conducting research on pesticides in the arctic since the early 1990s. Over the years the types of compounds investigated has evolved as the lists of compounds of concern have expanded. This work is complemented by air sampling at Alert and an arctic cod project targeting the same list of compounds. We have developed pesticide trends in air and water over time at different locations in the Canadian Archipelago. Generally, the trends show that chemicals that have been banned are declining in air and water where chemicals that are still being used are remaining constant or increasing.

2015-12-05 This data provides the integrated cadastral framework for the specified Canada Land. The cadastral framework consists of active and superseded cadastral parcel, roads, easements, administrative areas, active lines, points and annotations. The cadastral lines form the boundaries of the parcels. COGO attributes are associated to the lines and depict the adjusted framework of the cadastral fabric. The cadastral annotations consist of lot numbers, block numbers, township numbers, etc. The cadastral framework is compiled from Canada Lands Survey Records (CLSR), Registration Plans (RS) and Location Sketches (LS) archived in the Canada Lands Survey Records.

2011-03-09 Local Government Statistics - General Statistics - Summary Statement of Financial Position - Regional District - 2005. The Statistics schedules consist of data provided to the ministry by local governments in annual financial reporting forms. While the ministry does perform checks of the data, we do not guarantee its accuracy or validity. Users should contact local governments directly if confirmation is required. Beginning in 2002 the schedules have been amended to reflect Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) for local governments, thus they differ greatly from previous years. Regional District statistics use the current year assessments supplied by BC Assessment in April and revised population estimates certified by the Minister responsible. Data for previous years may be requested electronically.
