This project focused mainly on establishing a concerted strategy to maintain Magdalen Islands’ biodiversity. The project comprised different phases and was carried out over two years between the fall of 2012 and the spring of 2014. It ended in April 2014 when the Action plan for preserving biodiversity on the Magdalen Islands (PAMB) was produced. The project's main goal was to "Engage the population and key stakeholders in an ecosystemic approach to work on preserving biodiversity and restoring endangered species on the Magdalen Islands." A variety of activities were carried out within the scope of this project: 1) A retrospective of activities done to restore endangered species by Attention FragÎles over the past 20 years; 2) Two workshops on preserving biodiversity; 3) Visits to the field with key local stakeholders; 4) Public conference: "Magdalen Islands – Cape Hatteras: Two territories facing similar challenges" with speaker Michael Murray, former superintendent of Cape Hatteras National Seashore Park in the United States; 5) Presentation of the Action plan for preserving biodiversity on the Magdalen Islands. The action plan is based on a common vision developed in collaboration with local stakeholders and draws from the Strategic environmental intervention plan (PSIE). It marks a series of upcoming actions that aim to position the Islands as a benchmark for protecting biodiversity. It includes three main directions, eight common goals, and 19 global actions described in exploratory fact sheets. Ce projet portait principalement sur l’établissement d’une stratégie concertée visant le maintien de la biodiversité aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Comportant différents volets, il a été réalisé sur deux ans entre l’automne 2012 et le printemps 2014. Il s’est terminé en avril 2014 par le dépôt du Plan d’action pour le maintien de la biodiversité aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine (PAMB). L’objectif principal de ce projet était le suivant : « Engager la population et les intervenants clés dans une approche écosystémique de maintien de la biodiversité et de rétablissement des espèces en péril aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine ». Différentes activités ont été réalisées dans le cadre de ce projet : 1) Rétrospective des activités de rétablissement des espèces en péril des 20 dernières années par Attention FragÎles; 2) Deux ateliers de travail sur le maintien de la biodiversité; 3) Sorties terrain avec les intervenants clés du milieu; 4) Conférence grand public : « Îles-de-la-Madeleine – Cap Hatteras : Deux territoires aux enjeux similaires », avec comme conférencier Michael Murray, ancien surintendant du parc du Cape Hatteras National Seashore aux États-Unis; 5) Présentation du Plan d’action pour le maintien de la biodiversité aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine (PAMB). Bâti à partir de la vision commune développée en concertation avec les acteurs du milieu, le PAMB s’appuie sur le Plan stratégique d’intervention en environnement (PSIE) et propose une série d’actions à envisager dans les prochaines années pour faire des Îles une référence en protection de la biodiversité. Il comprend trois orientations, huit objectifs concertés et 19 actions globales détaillées dans des fiches exploratoires.
